Privacy Policy
Who we are
This website is operated under the ROV trade name. ROV operates under the Belgian VAT exemption scheme for small businesses, so no VAT number is shown. For any question about this policy or about your personal data, write to us on our contact page.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use this website or place an order, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
Information we collect
When you place an order, create an account, or contact us, we collect:
- Name, email address and phone number
- Shipping and billing address
- Order history and the messages you send us
Payment details (card number, etc.) are entered directly with our payment providers and never stored on our own servers.
We also automatically collect some technical information when you browse the site: IP address, browser type, device, and pages visited, mainly through cookies (see below).
Why we use it
- To process and deliver your order, and provide customer support
- To handle returns and warranty claims
- To keep the site secure and prevent fraud
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations
We do not currently run an email newsletter or marketing list. If we introduce one, we will only add you with your explicit consent, and this policy will be updated first.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary with:
- Shopify, our e-commerce platform, which hosts the site and processes orders on our behalf
- Payment providers (Shopify Payments and the methods you choose at checkout: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Bancontact, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna), to process your payment securely
- Delivery carriers, to ship your order and provide tracking
If you accept marketing cookies, Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd receives browsing data through the Meta pixel (pages viewed, products added to cart, purchases, IP address and browser identifiers) to measure and deliver our ads. We do not use Google Ads tracking. If that changes, this section will be updated before any such tool goes live.
How long we keep it
- Order and invoice records: 7 years, as required by Belgian accounting law
- Account and contact details, if you do not order again: 3 years from your last interaction with us, then deleted or anonymised
- Cookies: no longer than 13 months
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can ask us to:
- Give you access to the personal data we hold about you
- Correct it if it is inaccurate
- Delete it, or restrict how we use it
- Give you a copy in a portable format
- Stop using it for a specific purpose
Write to us on our contact page and we will respond within one month. We have not appointed a dedicated Data Protection Officer, as a small business; the contact page reaches the person responsible for handling these requests directly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (autoriteprotectiondonnees.be).
Cookies
We use essential cookies to run the site: keeping items in your cart, remembering your language and country, and keeping checkout secure. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
With your consent only, we also use Meta advertising cookies (such as _fbp, kept for up to 90 days), which you can accept or decline in our cookie banner. You can review and manage cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ROV grows or as the law requires.
